Elements of a Golf Swing
There are some basic elements of the golf swing that the golfer should use as a mental checklist when taking a shot. The first element is the body's adjustment to the target.
Stand five to ten feet behind the ball, the ball directly between your body and the desired target. Search guidance targets on the ground (leaves, blades of grass, dirt, etc.) inches in front and behind the ball to be on a direct line with where you stand and purpose.
Keep your eyes on which cover the ground as you approach the ball. Align the clubface behind the ball with the center of the clubface on a direct line between the two ground targets you have selected.
Grip the club with just enough power to keep from slipping in your hands during the golf swing. Align your feet on a parallel plain with your ground targets, shoulder width apart and knees slightly bent.
The front foot should be pointed slightly outward, toward the goal, so that your hips to swing freely.
Tilt your torso something in the direction of the ball while keeping your back straight. The arms should now hang freely for the body to the grip of the club.
The shoulders should be parallel with the ground targets and toes, and your head should be tilted downward with your eyes on the ball. These movements are known as the described set-up, or addressing the ball.
You are ready to to begin the golf swing. Keep your back elbow tucked close to your ribs as possible, slowly take the club on a straight line along the surface of the ground targets.
Keep your front elbow in the back swing and never your eyes off the ball. This movement should naturally tuck your chin into your front shoulder.
Hips should remain still and light tilted, while the front knee inward. At the top of the back swing, allow your wrists to break something.
Bring the club down to the ball, rolling motion of the wrists and shifting your weight on your front foot. You should try to generate power and speed to your swing down, but the magazine never take off the intended line.
On contact with the ball, the clubface strikes the ground as it moves through, taking a divot from the ground in the area behind where the ball lay, and by your second field focus.
Finish the golf swing with a nice, high follow through the club. Your hips should be turned toward the goal. Your weight should be shifted, and is now firmly on your right foot. Smile and watching the ball fly toward the target.
